SPEY picks up global whisky award

We have picked up a global title becoming Best PR Agency in Whisky

After winning the UK title, SPEY has been awarded the Icons of Whisky global title to become Whisky Magazine’s PR Agency of the Year 2020.

The renowned whisky industry awards are firstly presented regionally; in America, Australia, China, Ireland, Scotland and Rest of World. Those successful within their region then compete for the global title which was announced yesterday evening (Thursday 26 March).

The Icons of Whisky Awards are a celebration of all the craftsmanship that goes into every bottle, from the whisky makers, to the retailers and whisky communicators. SPEY, officially opened in August 2017 by Co-Managing Director of Walkers Shortbread, Jim Walker, has since gone on to become Small PR Agency of the Year in Scotland and UK. With a focus on retaining and attracting talent to an economically fragile rural area, the agency has created quality professional jobs in the creative industries which didn’t exist before, including PR, marketing, digital and design.

Founder and Managing Partner, Jennifer Robertson said:

“We are thrilled that the value of our approach and the quality of our work has been recognised with this global award, so a big thanks to Whisky Magazine! Based in the heart of Malt Whisky Country, we are immersed in this iconic region and consider it a privilege to help promote so many different whisky businesses in Speyside and beyond.

In just three years the agency has built up a client base across Scotland working in several sectors delivering communications campaigns on a global level from our rural Speyside HQ and Leith office which opened in 2019 to help service our growing client base.

Even in these uncertain times, our nimble approach and ability to work remotely means it's very much business as usual in terms of client delivery. So if you need some advice for your company, or are interested in joining our team, get in touch via our social channels or website.”

Anthony Denny, Publisher and Managing Editor of Whisky Magazine said: “In an industry that, year after year, continues to improve its game on every level, this year’s Icons of Whisky have been awarded to some truly outstanding companies and individuals, hailing from all over the world. By their own supreme efforts, they have succeeded not just in earning themselves well deserved recognition, but have demonstrated just how dynamic and innovative the whole industry is. It is a real pleasure to celebrate with them.”
