Merry Christmas from team SPEY

What a year it's been, while challenges have come a plenty there has been lots to celebrate.

  • We are officially Scotland’s best small communications consultancy, according to the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA)

  • We’ve expanded our client base by over 60% from 2020 and on track to triple turnover from 2018

  • We hired new staff at every level from graduate to Associate Partner

  • We picked up SIX accolades including being crowned Best PR Agency at last week’s Whisky Magazine Icons of Whisky Awards.

Some of our new clients include the world's first Rewilding Centre at Dundreggan by Trees for Life; Aberdeen’s top independent school, St Margaret’s School for Girls; and family business famous for its traditional Scottish produce, Speyside Specialties. We’ve continued our partnership with the world’s finest whisky festival Spirit of Speyside and we’ve added to our whisky portfolio - working with The Balvenie Distillery from 2022 and the former home of Scotland’s bard, Ayrshire’s Lochlea Distillery as it prepares for its inaugural release.

In the last couple of months we’ve welcomed Sarah Webster as Senior Associate in communications, Jack Michael as our Digital Associate and Frankie Byrne as our new intern who we pay the Scottish Living Wage. And our Associate Partner, Communications, Marion Cordiner has rejoined us after maternity leave.

Emma Scott, previously our general manager, was promoted to Head of Operations after her return from maternity leave, Thom Watt joined the team from Weber Shandwick, as Head of Digital, and we created four new roles via our internship and graduate programme at our Speyside HQ to recruit and retain talent to and from the Highlands.

We also launched Scotland’s first Gaelic communications service providing PR and digital support to clients who require multilingual services.

Last month, we were pleased to be able to hold our annual SPEY Summit in person in Speyside. With our 5th birthday coming up in 2022, we took the opportunity to recharge our creative batteries and get a head start on our exciting plans for the next year.

And finally, we’ll be publishing our inaugural list of Scotland’s top most influential Twitter users of 2021 soon so keep an eye on our social media channels @wearespey for further details.

Importantly, thank you to each and everyone one of you who we work with for helping us to end the year on a high. We look forward to working with you in the coming year and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Here’s to 2022
